Judie Newman is Professor of American Studies at the University of Nottingham. Her recent publications include Utopia and Terror in Contemporary American Fiction (Routledge 2013), Public Art, Memorials, and Atlantic Slavery (with C-M Bernier, Routledge, 2009) and Fictions of America: Narratives of Global Empire (Routledge, 2007). Together with Celeste-Marie Bernier and Matthew Pethers she has edited the Edinburgh Companion to Nineteenth-Century American Letters and Letter-Writing (Edinburgh University Press, forthcoming in 2016).
