Born in Shanghai, China, Ruth Kolani (1940-2010) majored in art at New York’s High School of Music and Art. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the City College of New York; she received her MA at Hunter College, CUNY, and her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas. Her interdisciplinary academic interests are reflected in two of the courses she taught in the Department of English of the Hebrew University: “Literature and the Visual Arts” and “Ethics and the Novel.” Recent publications include “Secret Agent, Absent: Ethical-Stylistic Aspects of Anarchy in Conrad’s The Secret Agent.”
